Desire Bishop, LCSWA
Psychotherapist - Monroe
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate in the state of North Carolina. I am a compassionate therapist who works with children, adolescents, and adults who are navigating emotional, behavioral, and everyday life stressors. I often support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, adjustment challenges, self-esteem concerns, and family and or relationship difficulties.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and goal-oriented. I focus on helping clients identify patterns in thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and develop practical coping strategies to improve daily functioning. Treatment focuses on building insight, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills within a supportive and non-judgmental environment.
Before practicing as a therapist, I worked as an ED case manager in the hospital and a Child Protective Services social worker. This background strengthened my understanding of family systems, crisis response, and the impact of environmental and psychosocial stressors on mental health. I incorporate this perspective into treatment while coordinating care and supporting both individuals and families.
I utilize evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic therapy, person-centered therapy, strengths-based approaches, play therapy, and parent guidance tailored to each client's clinical needs.
