Jessica Kempton

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in the state of North Carolina and a Board-Certified Music Therapist. My educational background includes Master's degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Music Therapy as well as a certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy. I have clinical experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. In my clinical work I have supported individuals struggling with various difficulties such as anxiety, depression, adjustment, recovery from trauma, and interpersonal relationships. Lastly, I also have experience working with individuals with developmental and neurocognitive differences as well as those with complex communication needs.

The relationship we develop together will be characterized by honesty, integrity, authenticity, support, and collaboration. I approach counseling from a feminist-multicultural perspective. This orientation involves an egalitarian relationship that is informed by a strengths-based perspective, cultural humility, empowerment, intersectionality, understanding the client in the context of society, prevention, education, and social justice. At times I may also utilize expressive arts therapy or music therapy techniques, which involve utilizing artistic mediums that lend themselves to your needs, wellness, and comfort level. Through this integrative approach, our work together will entail a strong professional relationship that allows for genuine care, interest, honesty, and creativity on behalf of both parties. I look forward to meeting with you and embarking on a journey toward wellness together.
